What was the Second World War really about? The struggle between German Idealism and Marxist Materialism ended in a victory for the materialists. The belief that we are just bodies-in-motions, without a free will or a soul, has forever changed Western societies. Can we reconcile the European soul with the deaddening? Or ought we drum up a darker spirit?
