This is one of the most insightful and interesting opinions raised on this type of geopolitical issue. And I hope that JMK explores the topic in greater detail soon.
"When Trump says he wants to deport a million Palestinians from their region to Libya, the migrant smugglers of Tripoli will be paid handsomely to take them to Italy, and then, of course, to Germany and other North West European countries."
And who will do this handsome paying? Mr Trump? No.
Americans? No.
Then who? European governments and
non-governmental organizations. That's who. Exactly how do Americans deserve the blame for decades or mass immigration of into Europe?
"So it seems nothing has changed. The Americans who once liberated us from the mustache man later became our colonizers, and are now, once again, Europe's enemy."
Rubbish. Americans are not the enemies of Europe. Europeans, with many notable exceptions, are their own enemies.
"If Trump makes the mistake of bringing American troops home from occupied Germany, Germany is free to acquire nuclear weapons."
If Trump could be re-elected, American public opinion would FORCE him to withdraw our troops from Europe, but he can't so he probably won't. Americans are fed up with the outrageous imperial games played by Washington with American blood and treasure. FED UP. Besides, Germany acquiring nuclear weapons is literally unimaginable. I lived in Germany for five years in the 1980s, when Germany was still German and, unless they have changed--and I see zero evidence of that--there will be no nukes in German hands.
"And if climate change is really melting the ice, ... ."
It isn't, so the point is moot. The Earth has entered a cyclical Grand Solar Minimum
(the Modern GSM 1); we are in a period of global cooling until 2053.
Excellent commentary though! I value and enjoy your commentaries. You represent what Europeans used to be and, I hope, will be again--soon. And I see evidence everywhere that Europe has life in it yet. You know what has to be done, and I think it WILL be done. The alternative is oblivion. And could America survive without Europe?
